Helicopter fleet

Helicopters used for Air Rescue:

EC 135 T2 – this category A helicopter which fully meets international JAR OPS and EU regulations for HEMS operation, was manufactured by Eurocopter Deutschland GmbH. It is light twin-engine helicopter powered by two powerful Arrius 2B2 engines and has four-bladed rotor, a fenestron system and landing gear with two skids. These helicopters are commonly capable of transporting one or two laying patients, two health care providers and two pilots. Since the beginning of 2005 DSA operates 3 helicopters of this type at all its HEMS bases.

EC 135 T1 – this category A helicopter is ideal for air rescue service. It was manufactured by Eurocopter Deutschland GmbH. This aircraft has safety features such as enclosed tailrotor, crush attenuated seats, and start up/shut down times of less than a minute which eliminates the need for hot loads/unloads. The aircraft cruises at approximately 150 -160 kts. The EC-135 T1 is capable of transporting one patient, two medical crew members and 2 pilots. DSA owns one helicopter of this type.

EC 135 T2+ – this category A helicopter which fully meets international JAR OPS and EU regulations for HEMS operations, was manufactured by Eurocopter Deutschland GmbH. It is a light twin-engine helicopter powered by two powerful Arrius 2B2 engines and has four- bladed rotor, a fenestron system and landing gear with two skids. These helicopters are commonly capable of transporting one laying patient. A crew consisting of one pilot and up to three medical or rescue personnel. It is the more modern type of T2 type with more powerful engines and better avionic. DSA has put this helicopter in operation in August 2009.
